Today I Learned How To Whistle

This is a poem about learning to whistle, and it remarks upon meeting other milestones later in life.

I wrote this when I was 19... when I learned how to whistle.

Today I learnt How to Whistle

Everything I should have been able to do

Always came late to me

There's no expiration date for milestones

But I know mine are later than most people's

Learning how to walk for example

Something that took me a long time

Potty training, I still make mistakes!

But I'm getting better at 19,

Starting to do some-what fine

But today I learned how to whistle

Almost, anyway

It's not perfect yet,

I definitely can't say

But a sound definitely comes out

When I put my mouth in just the right way

A sound that I'm sure is a whistle

A sound that can nearly carry a tune

I know it isn't a sound

That would ever make them swoon!

But today I learnt how to whistle

It's not perfect, and I won't claim it to be

But with the late milestones and all,

I'd never choose to be anyone except me.
