Spirit Week
Dress up days, scarecrows, and competitions! Oh my!
Another Spirit Week has come and passed, even being a little different this year due to Covid-19 and many students learning from home. While quite a few students weren't in school, they were, however, encouraged to share photos of themselves and their friends all dressed up.
What was happening during Spirit Week?
This year's Spirit Week was Disney themed, complete with Disney-themed dress up days, Disney-themed class banners, and Disney-themed scarecrows.
Spirit week kicked off with Lion King Day on Tuesday, October the 13th. Participants wore animal prints. This was also the day that the banners were due for the Class Banner Competition.
Shortly following that was Donald Duck Day (try saying that three times fast) on Thursday, October the 15th. On this day, blue and gold were worn to celebrate Donald Duck, as that's what the familiar billed character wears, but, being the school colors, it was also to show pride for our school!
Ending that week was Ohana Day, on Friday, October the 16th. This day was to celebrate Lilo and Stitch. Hawaiian shirts were worn. Later in the day, from 2:20 pm to 3:20 pm, students who had previously decided they wanted to take part, came into school to build scarecrows.
Starting up a new week of spirit (one might say these were Spirit Weeks), was Monsters' University Day on Wednesday, October the 21st. College apparel was worn to "team up" with Sully and Mike Wazoski, who were attending university in said prequel.
Thursday, October the 22nd went a little differently! On this day, students were asked to dress differently depending on their grade level. Seniors wore green for Princess Tiana, juniors wore orange for Princess Moana, sophomores wore red for Princess Ariel, and freshmen wore purple for Princess Rapunzel.
The last day of Spirit Week, on Friday, October the 23rd, was Sleeping Beauty Day. Comfy and cozy clothes were worn today in reference to Princess Aurora's deep sleep. At 2:20 pm to 3:20 pm, a competition was held on a wildly popular quiz game, Kahoot. Lastly, the Homecoming Game took place, and, subsequently, the crowning of Homecoming King and Queen took place also, at 7 pm.
The 2020 Challenge
It is no secret that everyone is having a hard time this year. In order to keep some positive vibes going, and to just help each other out, the Student Council has partnered with the Interact Club and together they are hosting "the 2020 Challenge." This challenge is an effort to collect 2,020 non-perishable food items and 2,020 hygiene products for our local shelters. The classes do receive points for each item given, and the points vary depending on the item. The boxes to collect these items are located in the front of the school. These items should be placed in bags with the students' names and grades on them.
